She’s a show jumper, a bronze medalist and the first female to represent Saudi Arabia in an Olympic event (YOG). In short, Dalma Malhas is the actual definition of #girlboss.
She’s 24 and already a winner of the Sheikh MBR Creative Sports’ Award and has consistently been competing in show jump competitions around the world.
If you haven’t heard about this lady, whose love affair with horses, is enough to write fairytales about- then you’re in luck.
Here are 7 things to know about our favorite equestrian, Dalma:
The incredibly skilled and hard-working athlete started pretty young, by age 12 she was already traveled to Rome to compete in more advanced show jumping competitions.
Malhas was supposed to compete at the 2010 Summer Olympics in London but was disqualified for not meeting the minimum eligibility standards, according to the International Equestrian Federation.
Her mount, Caramell KS, who was purchased specifically for Malhas’ Olympic competition at the time also sustained a back injury in May 2012.
Namely English, Arabic, French and Italian.
Dalma’s mother, Arwa Mutabagani, was the first elected female board member of a Saudi sports federation.
She even opened up Trio Ranch in Saudi Arabia, one of Saudi’s first riding clubs- introducing and the equestrian sport in the Kingdom.
Malhas never fails to mention how much her mother has been a source of inspiration to her.
No question there.
