The Souq Okaz festival will run from the 27th of June till the 13th of July.

It is one of the most eagerly anticipated festivals of the year and if you haven’t heard about it yet then you should probably continue reading.

Souq Okaz is actually named after a historic market that dates back over 1500 years.

Apart from the commercial aspect, the historic market a center where various tribes from across Arabia would meet and hold various competitions.

The current festival is being held on the outskirts of Taif in the exact same location where the original Souq Okaz was held.

Major cities across the country are hosting events in the run-up to the festival.

As in the past, the current festival is expected to host sporting and poetry competitions, display Arabian artwork and have handicraft items that are inspired by local culture on sale.
