Turkey has always been the go-to place for Saudi tourists. Saudis don’t require a visa, mosques are plentiful, halal food is not a problem at all and flights are pretty cheap so yes we were among the biggest tourists for Turkey. But not every Saudi wants to go there anymore.

According to the Saudi Gazette, a few travel agencies reported that the number of Saudis who cancelled their reservations Turkey stood at around 80%. Now, that’s a staggering amount.

One of the main reasons on why this is happening is that Saudi columnists have warned people in the local press not to travel.

Some of the reasons that these columnists site is the economic uncertainty in the country and the fact that a few Saudi tourists have been victims of fraud and theft.

In a desperate move during tourism season, Turkish government, through its official & media channels, tries to convince Saudi tourists to visit by claiming that #Turkey is safe.

While we continue to stay away from Turkey, one thing is for sure and that is that we are missing out on its amazing food and travel options.
