Anthony Joshua v Andy Ruiz Jr: One Of This Decade’s Biggest Boxing Matches Is Taking Place In Diriyah This Year

Saudi Arabia is a becoming a hub for big-time boxing matches, one of the most recent of which was Amir Khan’s bout against Billy Dib in Jeddah. The fight saw Amir Khan winning the WBC international welterweight title. This time the kingdom has upped the ante as the World Heavyweight boxing championship title is up for grabs.

The fight will be a rematch between Britain’s Anthony Joshua and American Andy Ruiz Jr. The fight is being called the Clash on the Dunes.

Joshua will be looking to reclaim the IBF, WBA and WBO titles that he lost to Ruiz on the 1st of June earlier this year.

Rumour mill was abuzz over the past week with speculations that the match will take place in Saudi Arabia. The Saudi venue has now been confirmed as reported in the Arab News.

Anthony Joshua even tweeted about it.

The fight will take place outskirts of Riyadh in the historic Ad Diriyah area.

Last year, Ad Diriyah hosted another major sporting event – the Saudia Ad Diriyah E-Prix

The much-anticipated duel will take place on the 7th of December. Tickets are not available yet, but watch this space as we keep you posted to as and when they do.
