The city of Ha’il is surrounded by mountains. Two of its mountains in the northern part of the city are named after a legendary Saudi love story.

The story between the two lovers Aja and Salma takes place long before Romeo and Juliet or even the Arabian Nights.

Their story goes something like this, Aga belonged to the tribe of the Amalekites. He falls in love with Salma who hails from another tribe. Both love each other but their parents refuse to get them married.

Aga and Salma run away but are eventually caught. Both are then crucified and killed. Aga on one mountain and Salma on the other. Hence the name Aga and Salma.

Today it makes for a popular tourist site.
