Saudi Arabia Is Opening Its Doors to Foreign Tourists

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has announced opening its doors to welcome visitors from all over the world by launching the e-tourist visa. The announcement was made during a ceremony held by the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH) in Riyadh.

The ceremony, which coincided with the World Tourism Day, was attended by tourism makers and international investors, in the presence of Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization, Mr. Zurab Pololikashvili, and President and CEO of the World Travel & Tourism Council, Gloria Guevara. Chairman of the SCTH board of directors, Mr. Ahmad Al-Khatib, said during his speech at the ceremony that the Kingdom in such a historical moment opens its doors to the world for the first time. Since Saudis are a hospitable people who welcome and honor their visitors, tourists will witness the hospitality, beauty of nature and cultural depth in the Kingdom

He added that Saudi Arabia not only welcome visitors but also businessmen and women investors of this sector, as there are big investment opportunities available in tourism fields. Hence, the 2030 vision is achieved under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz and the Crown prince

Also, he was glad to announce attracting 115 billion riyals so far, which indicate the world’s trust in the Saudi market’s strength and its potential

As explained by the Chairman, since Saudi Vision 2030 was launched, the hard-working was started for the kingdom to be an international touristic destination, which was in line with the implementation of big tourism projects and adoption of regulations that boost investment in the touristic sector, including the Cabinet’s adoption of the general strategy for national tourism development

He continued to say that the tourist sites in Saudi Arabia registered in UNESCO’s World Heritage list represent only a part of the Kingdom’s rich cultural heritage and marvelous touristic destinations. He pointed out that there are over 10,000 historical sites in the Kingdom, which represent potential investment opportunities

Upon the Kingdom’s announcement to welcome tourists, obtaining the tourist visa will be available to all countries, and e-visas and visas on arrival will be available to citizens of 49 countries during the first phase

According to the national tourism strategy, the Kingdom will receive 100 million visitors annually by 2030, while at the current time it receives approximately 41 million visitors

The Kingdom will be among the top five countries receiving tourists in the world by 2030, where the tourism revenues will reach 10% of the gross national income against the current revenues of 3%.  Moreover, Jobs Opportunities in the tourism sector will increase from 600,000 existing jobs to reach 1.6 Million opportunities to achieve the ambitious Saudi Vision 2030
