The region of Asir nestled high up in the mountainous south of the kingdom is one of the most picturesque locations in the country. A new initiative will transform the region into of the biggest tourist pullers in the country.
According to the Arab News, the SR50 billion tourism initiative dubbed “The Arabian Highland” has been launched by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman with the goal of attracting more than 10 million tourists by 2030 to Asir.
New tourist attractions will be built, several developmental projects in the region will be financed by the government and investments from abroad will also be sought.
This will turn Asir into a year-round destination.
The plan was developed collaboratively by the Development Authorities Support Office and the Asir Development Authority, in collaboration with the Boston Consulting Group of the United States.
