The Mataf Was Reserved For Those With Special Needs Yesterday In An Effort To Shed Light On Their Rights

Recent announcements show that authorities in charge of the Al-Masjid al-Haraam in Makkah reserved the mataaf for two hours for those with special needs, so that they can circumambulate around the Holy Kaaba, with help from the Masjid’s helpful workers.

The implementation of this took place on Monday, where an allocation of specific places of prayer and the kissing of the black stone have also been put in place for those with disabilities.

The initiative was done to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities- which falls on Dec 3rd

According to Saudi Gazette, The Presidency for the Affairs of The Two Holy Mosques had reserved the mataf (circumambulation area around the Holy Kaaba) for two hours for those with special needs on Monday.

This was done not only to give access to those who don’t usually get to but to also shed light on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities which took place on December 3rd.

The Presidency is keen on taking special care of this part of society and bringing their rights to prominence

The annual observance of the International Day of Disabled Persons was put into existence in 1992 by the United Nations General Assembly. One of its main aims is to be able to promote and improve the wellbeing an rights of people with disabilities, and this means in all aspects of life.
