A Saudi designer in Dubai’s annual Fashion Forward turned heads with her fabulous new collection that featured the sensational Nike Pro Hijab. The Nike Pro Hijab stirred controversy when it was first launched by the well-known sportswear brand.
With some saying it was “oppressive” and that they didn’t want to purchase anymore from the brand. On the other hand, it was also well- received by the majority of both Muslims and non- Muslims alike.
The audience applaused on Saturday as Rajhi’s models strutted the catwalk in her beautifully crafted modest yet elegant designs. The rich Saudi culture was well- embedded into the clothes, exuding a modern outlook with handcrafted techniques.
Designer Al Rajhi even custom personalised the Nike Air Force 1 sneakers with an Arabic word “قيادة” which means leadership. Al Rajhi says she strongly stands for leadership in everything that she does, and hopes that this is reflected through her pieces.
The Nike Pro Hijab is the perfect extension for my collection, as it symbolizes femininity and independence – values that I believe are more essential than ever for women today. You’ll see that I chose to style the collection with my personal favorite, the iconic streetwear classic, The Nike Air Force 1. Its white, its bold and its timeless.”
