A lot happened in Saudi Arabia since the last National Day in 2017. So much happened that the Kingdom made news around the globe- regularly.
The events that have taken place over the course of the last year shows how significantly Saudi Arabia has progressed.
So let’s take a trip down memory lane and recall said events.
As you might have already guessed, this one starts off the list:
On June 24, history was made after the ban on women driving was lifted. Women hit the streets in their vehicles and were warmly welcomed by Saudi officials.
Uber and Careem have opened opportunities for women to work as drivers too!
Saudi artists have been showcasing their talent and are receiving great appraisal. Three designers were even invited by Vogue Arabia and Aldo to design new shoes.
Gestures by Saudi authorities in their welcome is nothing short of extraordinary and the acts that the authorities are taking to ensure a peaceful hajj are being loved by the internet – here are some of them.

This year was truly the year of Saudi and the fashion scene was proof of this. Designers like Arwa Al Banawi and Hatem Alakeel shook the world with their AMAZING designs.
Saudi designers showcased their talent and creativity in international fashion shows which paved the path for creative individuals in Saudi.
After a 35-year long ban, cinemas are now back in Saudi Arabia.
We’ve currently got three theaters all in Riyadh, with more expected to open up within the next couple of years.
A year ago, all ministries and government departments have been asked to terminate the contracts of expat workers over the next three years. The Kingdom’s Vision 2030 aims to increase the locals’ employment rate.
The Saudi Green Falcons made it to the 2018 World Cup and initiated the match with Russia. Although it resulted in a loss, Saudis still went to Moscow to show their support and pride for Saudi Arabia.
