After the discovery of more than 250 caves in Saudi, it’s no surprise that the Saudi Geological Survey revealed that they are an integral part of the Kingdom’s history and will soon be nominated to be part of the official touristic attractions.

Yep, this means most of them could very soon be open to public.

Only a few caves up until this point have been open to the public

Like the well-known Heet Cave, located in Riyadh with the bluest of waters you’ll ever see within its cave sites, depending on the weather.

At the moment, the site tends to look trashed, with many leaving what they have bought with them behind and lacking the efforts to keep the surroundings clean.

But with the help and immense input by all the various entities in charge from the last year, this probs won’t be an issue any longer.

The Geological Survey intend to ‘refurbish several caves as a first phase, to become tourist attractions as part of activating ecotourism in cooperation with the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage.

Some of these caves are over 30 million years old

That’s why studies will first be conducted to see how suitable some of the caves will be for ecotourism, reports SG.
