Houthi militias have made many attempts to target populated areas in the past but like the others, this one too was shot down in midair.

According to Arab News, a ballistic missile was shot from northwest Yemen and targeted the city of Najran.

The Saudi-led coalition spokesperson Colonel Al-Maliki has confirmed that the ballistic missile was fired in the direction of the city of Najran and was deliberately targeting civilian and populated areas before being intercepted. He also stated that there had been no loss of life or casualties in the attempt by the Houthis.

The media arm of the rebels has reported that Thursday’s projectile was a Qaher 2-M ballistic missile.

Last month, Houthi militias fired a missile towards Riyadh, which was targeting the Yamamah Palace. And, before that, there was another attempt on Riyadh, which was at the city’s sole commercial airport.

Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported that Thursday’s attack took to 88 the total number of such attacks by the militant group on Saudi Arabia since the start of the conflict in Yemen.

The attempts by the Houthis to cause damage within Saudi soil have intensified within the recent months sparking a global outcry with a number of countries condemning the use of ballistic missiles by the rebels.
