The Kingdom plans to launch a special channel specifically for Arabic drama this coming Ramadan. The channel, according to Egypt Today, will be titled the Saudi Broadcasting Corporation Channel (SBC). The president of SBC, Dawood Al- Shoryan, announced the news of the channel recently.
Beloved Arab actor Adel Imam will feature in the Ramadan series “Awalem Khafeya” (Invisible Worlds), which SBC will feature. Marketing is already in the works for the special channel, with two other series including Saudi actor Abdullah Al- Sadhan and Fayes Al-Malky.
This surprising initiative is reportedly likely a greater effort towards Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s plans for Vision 2030. Egypt Today reported that, on average, Saudis will spend $22 billion yearly on entertainment pursuits alone. Improving Saudi’s entertainment sector, such as the launch of this channel, will help boost the Kingdom’s economy by 2030.
