A Preacher In Saudi Arabia Tweeted Blaming Women For ‘Instigating’ Rape And Harassment From Men

A Saudi preacher and cleric, Ahmed Bin Saad Al Qarni, has been called out by netizens for a tweet on Wednesday where he basically states that men are not to be blamed for them harassing women. Al Qarni posted in a series of tweets, ranting and using a video from social media to exemplify his statements. 

The preacher saw this video online and said “women are the cause of adultery and sexual harassment”

When he reposted this video, he captioned it with his thoughts..

If he rapes her, she’ll come home crying over her dignity. I swear to God, women are the cause of harassment and adultery. Look at the woman in this video, she’s the one who stopped the man driving the vehicle, and she’s the one who got into the car with him,” according to Stepfeed.

In the tweet above, he mentions that women who leave the house with make-up and perfume on are adulteress’

Adding “a good woman who wears a kitchen aprop will never leave her house looking like that.”

There was a divide on opinions towards his more than 66,000 followers on the social media platform

With some agreeing with the statement and others offended and outraged over his statements…

“The only one at fault is the offender”

And others are saying he needs to be held accountable over his words

The Kingdom has issued a decree to criminalise anyone who sexually harasses another 

Last month, following the lift of the ban on women driving, The Custodian of The Two Holy Mosques King Salman issued a decree that will criminalise sexual offenders.
