A Saudi groom left his own melka (wedding ceremony) following the bride’s father’s demand that his daughter should be allowed to drive after their marriage, according to Al Marsd. The groom was surprised, after hearing the demands of the father, that his wife will get a car and her own driving license once the royal decree comes into effect by June 2018.
The father discussed the conditions just minutes before the ceremony- which to his, and everyone else’s surprise, the groom did not take too well. The groom, reportedly, walked out of the hall despite other family members’ attempts at negotiation.
First was the dowry of SAR 40,000 and that his daughter be allowed to work after their marriage- both of which, the groom agreed to.
