A Saudi TV game show is receiving backlash after the host told a Saudi contestant on the live show that his father had passed away.
Ibrahim Al Awad, the Saudi contestant, is seen in the viral clip being overwhelmed with the news of his father’s death.
The host, along with other staff members, are seen attempting to calm him down.
“I have something to tell you, we should always have complete trust in our faith and in what happens in life. My beloved brother, Ibrahim, your father has passed away, may God rest his soul.”
The clip went viral on social media with people accusing the host and the Saudi channel of “exploiting” the feelings of the contestant.
Chairman of the channel’s board, Abdull Aziz Al Oraify, condemned the “foolish” way in which the contestant was told of his father’s death.
