A Saudi man has been sentenced to 22 years in prison on Wednesday, for illegally obtaining a Kuwaiti passport more than 30 years ago, according to Al Rai newspaper. The man’s father was allegedly a defendant in the case, having also forged papers in the ’80s wrongly claiming his the Saudi man was his son. During that time, the man was issued a ID cards, a passport and a nationality card.
The man received usual Kuwaiti benefits and salaries, with his illegal Kuwaiti passport.
Both him and his father were initially convicted of forging fake documents, however due to Kuwait’s legal system’s statue of limitations- the father’s sentence was suspended.
The man will be in a Kuwait prison for 22 years and will have to pay a fine of 41,000 Kuwaiti Dinars
