A paramedic in the Kingdom, who had been working for the last 16 years received the shock of his life when he saw his 12-year-old brother and nephew among the sufferers in a traffic accident. Fiyhan Aliyan Aljabry, working at the Red Crescent in Madinah, told Al Arabiya in a statement how difficult it was to have been in that situation.
He arrived on the scene of the accident immediately, unaware that he would see his younger brother, fully-injured on his head and feet and without life.
Quoting his statements from daily Khaleej Times, he said “I didn’t know if I should hug my young brother or rescue the other injured people,” he said, adding that he knew his brother was dead when he saw his injured body. He tried to calm himself down and called the civil defence, asking for more ambulances.”
Aljabry added that he managed to rescue his nephew, Adel, who was struggling with a fracture on his thigh and arm, and a few scratches. However, four people in total were killed in the accident- including his brother, the driver of the other vehicle and two girls.
Fiyan’s nephew and three other injured were treated, according to reports. Fiyhan has now decided to write a book sharing his stories, and the vitality of helping people in accidents.
