A Woman Was Arrested For Driving In Saudi Ahead Of The New Laws Being Passed To Allow Women To Get Behind The Wheel

A woman filmed herself driving a car in Saudi and is being penalised by the police in Saudi, according to many reports. The ban is to be lifted officially by June 2018, after the regulations have been studied.

The woman in the video was seen driving out of a hotel in Riyadh, and authorities called the woman in for not complying with traffic regulations.

“We call on all Saudi citizens to respect the law and wait until the ban on women driving formally ends,” a police spokesman told media outlets.

The charge on the woman was not specified, but the spokesman says she was not arrested. However, the owner of the vehicle was the one who got written for violating traffic rules.

King Salman announced last month that women in the Kingdom would be granted driving licenses by next summer

The royal decree still has a few months until women can officially drive.
