Al-Futtaim BYD Saudi Arabia Launches First “Super Hybrid Tech Day” In The Region

BYD is strengthening its presence in the Saudi automotive market by introducing advanced plug-in hybrid vehicles and innovative technologies that align with Saudi Vision 2030. Recently, the company held the Super Hybrid Tech Day to showcase its latest innovations, including plug-in hybrid vehicles with Dual Motor Off-Road (DMO) technology—marking a first in the Kingdom.

Jerome Saigot, Managing Director of Al-Futtaim BYD Saudi Arabia, said:

Saigot emphasized that the main challenge lies in transitioning customers from traditional petrol engines to hybrid and electric vehicles. For this reason, the company has focused on educating customers and clearly explaining the benefits of plug-in hybrid vehicles.

He also highlighted the importance of expanding showrooms across the Kingdom to make BYD vehicles more accessible, so customers do not need to travel long distances, with strong local dealer partnerships ensuring a smooth and reliable customer experience.

José Miranda, Director of Marketing and Communications of BYD Americas, Europe, Middle East, and Africa, added:

“Saudi Arabia is a promising market, where cars are essential due to long distances and high temperatures, and families are central to daily life. BYD delivers plug-in hybrid vehicles that offer long range, power, and flexibility.”

Miranda noted that BYD’s vision aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 by providing sustainable solutions with a strong focus on research and development, including vehicles, batteries, and solar panels to support smart cities and sustainable mobility.

He also confirmed that BYD hybrid vehicles are designed to fit the Saudi lifestyle—from luxury and sports cars to everyday use—offering a seamless combination of electric power and petrol engines for a complete driving experience. As a light side note, some entertainment features, like karaoke, are included for extra fun, though they are not the main focus.

Regarding the future of the plug-in hybrid vehicles market, Miranda said:
“The market is ready. With a strong lineup and trusted local partners, now is the time to move toward new-energy mobility. Experiencing a BYD vehicle transforms customer expectations and makes returning to traditional engines unlikely.”
