Brace yourselves Jeddawis and people living in Makkah, early warning systems have forecasted HEAVY thunderstorms in both areas- reports Arab News. The Kingdom’s General Authority for Meteorology and Environmental Protection released the code red warnings and are constantly giving live updates on the social media account.
The code red is usually an indication or early warning of severe weather that’s about to take place. For example, this radar image below shows rain clouds with expected heavy showers in Jeddah’s eastern side, with some combination of rising dust.
Following this announcement came another that warns people of the sand storm that will take place across Jeddah that might reduce visibility a little. Jeddah’s official health sources have confirmed that its emergency departments are ready to receive any cases that might be a result of the dust storm.

The Jeddah Health Authority is advising Jeddah residents who have allergies or chest problems not to go out during those conditions unless needed. It added that the dusty surrounding can usually irritate a person’s bronchial airways.
Drivers are being advised to drive slower due to the horizontal visibility and to always stay safe.
