Importing guava, whether fresh, frozen or manufactured, from Egypt, has now been banned by The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) due to an increase of pesticide residue.
The Saudi Press Agency just reported that the residues have reached levels higher than the global limit.
The temporary ban, that has gone into effect on January 18, will remain until governmental control agencies in Egypt report that all guava products being exported from them are free from pesticide residues and comply with the allowed limit.
