The Passport Department (Jawazat) has announced on Tuesday that visit visas can’t be extended for more than 180 days. In a report by Saudi Gazette, extension requests for visit visas can be made a week before your visa’s expiry date.

Jawazat also added that a final exit visa will be issued free of charge and is valid for 60 days. Additionally, dependents and companions of expat workers won’t be directly affected by the rule that bans entry to those who leave and don’t come back on time.

Approximately 12 million entry visas were handed out last year for Haj and Umrah pilgrims alone, according to the Jawazat. This is expected to rise to 30 million people by 2030.

Preparations are taking plae to the infrastructure development to help assist the rising number of pilgrims.
