Avatar

Headmasters would be sacked at any time of the year if he/she cannot reduce student absenteeism and  if student absentee levels are not monitored properly, said Moubarak Al Asseimy, Spokesperson of Saudi Education Ministry,  reported by Al Sabq news.

This may also include closing of private schools if the situation prolongs.  After ministry supervision visits to schools , the ministry has  found that the level of absenteeism  in some schools were just UNACCEPTABLE.

Other New Rules

 1.Reducing public subsidies for schools

2.Preventing tuition  fee increase by schools

3.Not allowing new students to enroll  in these schools

 5.Revoking  schools licenses if needed

What’s Next?

The Saudi education ministry may also publish absentee rate at private schools on its website.

Upon recommendation from Study Committee, the deputy minister also approved the closure of a school south of Riyadh due to really high level of absentee students – 97%!

It also sacked 4 headmasters of a private secondary school for boys and one private school for girls in eastern Riyadh.

Hopefully these measures will prove effective and student will look forward to come to school!
