Saudi Women Can Officially Begin Training To Drive By March But There Are A Few Details Still Left Unannounced

Avatar

Another surprise has come our way, as reportedly, women will soon be able to obtain their driving licenses in Saudi Arabia a few months before the decree’s set date begins.

This means by March of 2018, women in the Kingdom can apply to driving schools to train for a mandatory  of 90 hours or a minimum of thirty hours, depending on their skill level.

Driving licenses will be available to obtain 4 months before the proposed month when women can finally drive

The proposed month being June 2018, the date when the Saudi government announced when women will be able to drive. As currently, these next nine months will be the revision stages to study out the logistics and prepare what is needed by the time June rolls around.

This should give women more time to train and obtain the skills needed to pass the driving test

Daily local media Okaz reported on Sunday.

Women who have more driving experience, however, could be exempt from this new ’90-hour-training’ rule

Since most Saudi women have obtained their driving licenses in other parts of the world, those who already have knowledge on driving vehicles will be exempt.

But there was no specific mention on certain details..

Such as, if women will be able to train with existing driving schools in the Kingdom or the specifically built new ones just for women.
