Prince Khalid Al Faisal, Adviser to Custodian of The Two Holy Mosques King Salman, has announced the restriction for the Kaaba courtyard during the holy month of Ramadan. According to the Saudi Press Agency, Umrah-pilgrims making their tawaf throughout Ramadan are the only ones who will have access to the Kaaba courtyard.
The preventative measures are being taken to alleviate overcrowding and ease the congestion for those who will take part in the holy ritual.
In an article by The Khaleej Times, Prince Khalid announced that pilgrims can conduct their prayers in other areas of the mosque until the restriction time becomes void. Furthermore, the final ten days of Ramadan will result in an extension of the restricted time until after worshippers end their Tahajjud prayers.
If anyone plans to stay overnight in the mosque during the final 10 days of Ramadan, they are free to use the basement area. Expansions in other parts of the mosques are also readily available for those who wish to complete their itikaf.
