The Saudi Government Deposited A Whopping SAR 2.5 Billion Directly In Bank Accounts Of Some Citizens In May
The Saudi government is running a welfare scheme called the Citizen Account Program in which the government directly transfers cash to bank accounts of its citizens.
According Asharq Al Awsat, the government has deposited a huge SAR 2.5 billion for selected beneficiaries for the month of May.
The program is managed by the Ministry of Labor and Social Development (MLSD). Over 12.3 million individuals and entities have benefited from this program.
The total amount of funds dispersed directly to citizen’s accounts from the start of the program in December 2017 amounts to a whopping SAR 42.5 billion.
The amount received by each household varies but it averages to around SAR 1,000 per month.
