This Is Not A Drill: Women Aged 25 And Above Can Soon Tour Saudi Arabia Without A Chaperone

Avatar

Good news, ladies!

Any woman looking to tour Saudi Arabia from another country can now be given tourist visas, and if you’re over the age of 25- you don’t need a male companion. Women visiting under the age of 25 will need to be accompanied by another family member, according to the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH).

Details on the tourist visa have been revealed

The tourist visa will be a single-entry visa that will be valid for a maximum of 30 days. Pretty neat. This is a new type of visa that excludes the other types like work, visit, Hajj and Umrah visas.

These types of tourist visas for women can start being issued in the first quarter of 2018, as reported by Arab News.

The executive regulations for tourist visas have been finalised. The commission’s IT department is currently building an electronic system for the issuance of tourist visas, coordinating with representatives of the National Information Center and the Foreign Ministry

The initiative falls under the Vision 2030 for Saudi’s tourism industry

This initiative, along with others, will help boost the tourism sector for the Kingdom and give more job opportunities for residents.
