Another tragedy has hit the Kingdom following the suicide of the 12-year-old Abdulrahman Al Ahmari in Abha last week.

According to Al Arabiya, a 13-year-old girl from Madinah strangled herself to death at home after playing the horrendous ‘Blue Whale’ game online.

This is the second death in the Kingdom that has come days after a boy from Abha hung himself…

The deadly game, created by a 22-year-old Russian national, has already induced 100 deaths since it started spiraling the web. It asks players to participate in a game with 50 challenges spanning 50 days.

On the final day of the game, the player is challenged to kill themselves in order to win the game.

The first Saudi suicide to the game was announced by the young boy’s cousin on Twitter.

In the tweet, Abdullah bin Fuhaid wrote “My uncle’s son, who is in sixth grade, recently passed away under the influence of a video game, which forced him to commit suicide by hanging himself in order to reach a new level. We belong to Allah and to him we shall return.”

The creator of the game was imprisoned in 2017

The game was first launched in Russia five years ago in 2013 by 22-year-old Philipp Budeikin. Budeikin has since been sentenced to three years in jail for instigating young Russians to kill themselves last August.

He has admitted openly to creating the game, to push teenagers to commit suicide.

However, when asked why; he would respond by saying “Don’t worry, you’ll understand everything. Everyone will understand.”

Saudis had a lot to say about the social media game on Twitter

Saudi Gazette reports on some of the most riveting comments made by heavily affected citizens about the recent deaths due to the game.

One social media user has reportedly said that the game is, in fact, not a game but a ‘systematic crime.’ Whereas many users believe the game should be banned, however; it should be noted that the game is more like a group chat involving other users rather than a game.

Another user has even said,“Parents must have more hands-on with their kids. Just start a conversation and try to understand what they are into. I do not have a kid of my own but my little brother is basically my kid considering the age gap.”
