ATTN Expats: Privileged Iqama Holders Will Have No Dependent Fee

Avatar

We wrote earlier about how a permanent iqama would cost SAR 800,000 and the temporary one would cost SAR 100,000. But there was a big question about the new iqama that everyone wanted to know. And, that was if holders of it would have to pay dependent fees on their dependents?

The dependent fee that is currently being charged on holders of the regular iqama is SAR 300 that is set to increase to SAR 400 per dependent per month in a few months’ time.

According to the Saudi Gazette Privileged Iqama holders won’t have to pay any dependent fee.

The digital newspaper has also listed several other privileges for holders of the Privileged Iqama on their website, some of the most notable ones are:

1) Privileged Iqama holders can work in any private company and switch jobs at will

2) They’ll be able to use passport desks that are designated for Saudi citizens at immigration

3) Buy real estate except for border towns

4) Can invest in Makkah and Madinah real estate but it will be on a 99-year lease basis

5) Run their own business
