BREAKING: Saudi Arabia Warns That Moving The U.S. Embassy To Jerusalem Might Cause Conflict

The Kingdom’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz warned U.S. President Donald Trump that his decision on moving the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem might harm the current Israeli- Palestinian peace discussions. 

On Wednesday, President Trump announced moving the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, as the United States will soon recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, CNBC reports.

Officials from Trump’s side have confirmed that the move might take years 

It would probably take around 3-4 years to move the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, as there is no set location for it yet. 

King Salman reaffirmed his support for the Palestinian people’s historic rights

In the duration of their phone call, King Salman bin Abdulaziz notified Trump that an embassy move would be a risky decision, that could result offend Muslims globally, according to Al Arabiya.

Any American announcement on the status of Jerusalem before a final settlement is reached will harm the peace process and increase tension in the region. The Kingdom’s policy has been and continues to be supportive of the Palestinian people, and this has been transferred to the US administration.

Officials from the Palestinian Presidency issued a statement of gratitude towards the Kingdom 

They issued a statement thanking Saudi for keeping to their stance on supporting the Palestinian people.
