11 Princes Have Been Arrested For Protesting Outside The Royal Palace

Avatar

A fresh round of arrests of royal-family members have taken place as a group of princes staged a protest at the royal palace over the non-payment of their electricity and water bills.

11 princes were objecting to a decree that ordered the state to stop paying their utilities

A division of the National Guard, which is tasked with protecting the royal family, was ordered to arrest the princes after they refused to leave the royal palace in Riyadh.

In November, authorities carried out a crackdown against corruption and arrested many princes and government ministers who are currently detained at the Ritz Carlton in Riyadh.

It was confirmed earlier this week that the detained had agreed to a settlement and would be released by next month.
