Al Aswad was the first selection to become a ‘captainah’ or the female version of Careem’s ‘captains’ (what it refers to its drivers). The 43-year-old was taught to drive in her native home in Syria and has obtained her license from there. However, she hopes to attain the Saudi licence after completing the 10-hour driving tuition under the recently updated laws. According to Arab News, Al Aswad has already received all formal training necessary for every Careem captain prior to hopping onboard the company.
