The King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture also called Ithra is one of the most symbolic buildings in the country today. It just got even more symbolic now that it has a huge art installation inside it by renowned Italian Sculptor Giuseppe Penone.
Called the “Source of Light”, the installation hangs above the ground. And, as with every installation by Giuseppe Penone this one too is inspired by the natural world.
The artwork is 90 feet tall and artwork consists of three metallic trees that seemingly grow from the core of Ithra.

According to Arab News Penone said “It symbolises the Source, where oil needed for the growth and development of the world’s economy was discovered. It celebrates with its own form and materials, including the gold that covers the central tree’s inner surface, the elevation of life.”
