Following US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s arrival to Riyadh this morning (Tuesday), he met with Custodian of The Two Holy Mosques King Salman at the royal palace.

The chief diplomat was welcomed at the airport by Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir and the ambassador to Washington Prince Khalid bin Salman, according to SPA.

Pompeo thanked King Salman for accepting his visit on behalf of President Trump

King Salman greeted Pompeo with a welcoming statement saying, “I hope you are comfortable here,” to which Pompeo thanked him for accepting the visit on behalf of Trump’s requests.

The visit follows a phone call made by Trump to King Salman on Monday wherein they discussed the disappearance of missing journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
