Egyptian Women Who Were Giving Private Tuition In Saudi Arabia Have Been Arrested

The practice of teachers giving private classes at home has been outlawed many years ago yet some still continue to do it.

According the Okaz newspaper, in a crackdown on expats working illegally some Egyptian women were found to be offering private classes.

The incident happened in the Makkah region and the women that were teaching were arrested.

The Egyptian Consulate has given an official statement stating that they are working with the authorities to get them released soon.

Speaking to Egyptian news website Masrawy the a spokesman for the consulate has said: “The women who are under arrest were working illegally in the kingdom, as they did not have work permits and were in Saudi Arabia on dependent visas … They are currently being held at a deportation center and it’s likely that they will be fined.”
