Andrea Bocelli Wears A Ghutra And Says Saudi Is “One Of The Most Inspiring Places In The World”

As Saudi guarantees preserving Al Ula, a land inhabited over 2,000 years ago by the Nabataeans, it’s currently the focus of hundreds, if not thousands, of camera clicks.

Right now, the Winter at Tantora festival is taking place, a unique cultural festival, highlighting the best of Saudi.

And every weekend, a star-studded line up of world-class musicians have descended to woo concert-goers, but so far no one has made an impression quite like the world’s most loved tenor. (Scroll to watch the performance).

Andrea Bocelli took to stage at Winter at Tantora

He even wore a ghutra, and the whole crowd loved it!

He dubbed Al-Ula “a pristine archaeological paradise”

And shared iconic images from the festival

Andrea Bocelli praised Saudi and thanked the royal commission following his performance

“On Friday evening in the dazzling setting of Al-‘Ula, Saudi Arabia, in a pristine archaeological paradise, the East and the West ideally embraced with a moving concert during which every note seemed to carry a message of sharing and beauty. I am grateful to have been able to lend my voice, for an unforgettable evening in an architectural wonder of a theatre and in a location that has been declared a UNESCO world heritage site, on the occasion of the #WinteratTantora festival.
I would like to thank the Royal Commission of Alula, Prince Badr bin Abd Allah bin Mohammed bin Farhan Al Saud, Saudi Minister of Culture and to all who embraced this cultural event. The Festival of Tantora is an annual event which I am proud to support for the cultural development of the Kingdom Of #SaudiArabia.”

He went to remark on the splendour and even called it one of the most inspiring places in the world – what an honour!

“It is no coincidence that mystics throughout time have sought and found here the answers they pursued… In the splendor of its silences, the desert has welcomed us in all its rough beauty, in its blazing essentiality. They say that God wanted to remove from this boundless sea of sand everything that was superfluous, while in our cities we are besieged by a sterile superabundance.
They say that here he left as a gift a clear air, to the point that it can wash your soul, a feeling that we don’t remember experiencing in the city. While riding through the dunes, nobody in the family had doubts: this is one of the most inspiring places in the world”
