Cinema tickets at the only open-theatre AMC (currently) reportedly costs SAR75 per person and Saudis are complaining that it is too high and need to be reduced to meet their monthly limited incomes, reports say. 

AMC held its first private screening of Black Panther a few days ago and are now allowing for pre-bookings through several online platforms. The current price at AMC is at 75 Saudi Riyals for a film, thus leading residents to take out concerns through a Twitter hashtag #تذكره_السينما_٧٥_ريال.

The hashtag (#تذكره_السينما_٧٥_ريال) says “The price of a cinema ticket is 75 riyals” and people were all sorts of confused

Recurring phrases on sticking to Netflix or driving to Bahrain was one of Tweeps reactions.

Saudis living in other countries compared prices 

“In France, I pay a monthly fee of EUR 19 or about $75 for a card which allows me to enter unlimited cinema screenings.”

Students chimed in 

“Dude most of us are students and are broke as hell”

While others simply accepted the fact and are just glad that there’s a new form of entertainment in the Kingdom

“I’m okay with paying SAR75 for a ticket. It’s not like I’ll be going to the movies every day.”

Despite all this, the pre-bookings for Black Panther sold out within 15 minutes

The first public screening of Black Panther is set to take place at the start of May with pre-bookings already having taken place. In a report by Gulf News, AMC Entertainment’s CEO, Adam Aron, announced that the public show sold out in 15 minutes, showing just how excited people are for cinemas in the Kingdom.
