The Al Wahba Crater is another beautiful mishap situated in our stretched out and mysterious Kingdom. It is a popular hiking spot for many, for spectacular views that make you feel like you’ve seen it all.

Well, if you haven’t seen a volcanic crater- have you ever really lived?

The Al Wahba crater is a good 250km away from Taif

It’s… wait for it, 820 FEET deep

… some people thought the entire crater was even caused by a meteorite

but geologists have formed a theory that it might  have come from a ‘volcanic activity in the form of an underground phreatic eruption’

There’s still a few date palm trees in the area but it’s been discontinued for use

Visiting it might prove to be quite a daunting task, but if you’re an adventurer- you’ll find it a worthy one

It takes about 45 minutes to an hour to get to the bottom of the crater, and coming back up might take even longer due to the surface’ slippery nature.

Weekends are usually a good time for visitors to come, just prep your walking shoes and start early.
