The First Ever School To Be Built In Saudi Arabia Just Turned 75

Avatar

The famous Dar Al-Tawheen School opened in Taif in 1943 afterKing Abdul Aziz ordered the establishment of a school in the country.

King Abdul Aziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah), which holds the memories of the educational renaissance in the Kingdom considers Dar Al-Tawheed School in Taif province as the Kingdom’s first school.

The school taught Arabic and Islamic sciences in 1943

Around that time, many people did not wish to send their children to school because they needed them in agriculture or trade.Dar Al-Tawheed School played a MAJOR role in the advancement of education – something King Abdul Aziz really believed in.

Taif was chosen for its strategic position and weather so that students from all the country would easily be able to adjust to the environment.

The school just turned 75 and the Darah foundation has archived some of its more valuable and historical artifacts in an exhibition in the school.

These include some records and files of its former students – a must check since many of them became VERY significant personalities in the country later.
