A Kuwaiti Social Media Star Is Under Heat For Stating That Domestic Workers Should Not Get Any Days Off

A video of a Kuwaiti social media influencer has sparked an outrage on social media for a rant about the laws and policies when it comes to domestic workers.

Reforms in Kuwait’s laws now include that all domestic workers must have at least one day off a week and that they must keep their passports with them.

The influencer posted a video in which she disagreed with the reforms

She discusses that she came across the news laws which include a break every 5 hours, a day off a week, and to have their passport on them.

She said that she is shocked at the passport law because “if they run away and went back to their country”, she would lose a lot of money and she also objects a day off each week because that accumulates to four days off a month.

People were quick to respond

The reforms took place following the murder of a Filipina maid whose body was found stuffed in a freezer last year.
