Raha Moharrak, the first Saudi female to summit the highest peak in seven continents, shared a video months back that truly shows the bond Saudi children grow to have with their nannies.
In the series of videos, Moharaak introduced her two Filipino nannies’, Rosa and Linda, and discussed how they’ve been a part of her family since she was a little girl.
She travelled to the Philippines to say goodbye to Rosa and Linda and explore the country and their hometown while she’s at it.
And the videos are truly, truly a fascinating reflection of globalisation and exchange of culture- as one.
And left after 36 years of staying in the Kingdom.
“As our nannies, they cared for me and my siblings as if we were their own. I love them dearly, and am beyond grateful that I get to accompany them back to the Philippines as they return home to their families. Even though this is my first visit, I feel like I’ve been here before because they’ve told me so many stories over the years! It makes me feel unexpectedly complete in a strange way, but saying goodbye at the end of the trip is one of the hardest things I’ll ever do. I could handle facing down death on mountains but saying goodbye to them is another level of heartache. A piece of me will stay here with them.”
