Raha Moharrak Shared A Video Visiting Her Nannies’ Homes In The Philippines And It’ll Make You All Sentimental

Avatar

Raha Moharrak, the first Saudi female to summit the highest peak in seven continents, shared a video months back that truly shows the bond Saudi children grow to have with their nannies.

In the series of videos, Moharaak introduced her two Filipino nannies’, Rosa and Linda, and discussed how they’ve been a part of her family since she was a little girl.

She travelled to the Philippines to say goodbye to Rosa and Linda and explore the country and their hometown while she’s at it.

And the videos are truly, truly a fascinating reflection of globalisation and exchange of culture- as one.

They’ve been with her family since 1982

And left after 36 years of staying in the Kingdom.

In 1982, my mother opened the door to two strangers, Rosa and Lumi, but, 36 years later, they leave our home as family. As our nannies, they cared for me and my siblings as if we were their own. I love them dearly, and am beyond grateful that I get to accompany them back to the Philippines as they return home to their families. Even though this is my first visit, I feel like I’ve been here before because they’ve told me so many stories over the years! It makes me feel unexpectedly complete in a strange way, but saying goodbye at the end of the trip is one of the hardest things I’ll ever do. I could handle facing down death on mountains but saying goodbye to them is another level of heartache. A piece of me will stay here with them. #Philippines #adventure #explore #worldnomad #naturalhair #iphonex

In the post, Raha shared a sweet message about Rosa and Linda and how they’ve contributed as part of the family

I explored Rosa’s hometown in the Philippines! It’s so rewarding to finally see where she was born and grew up. I was always curious about her life, her family, and what she left behind to work in a foreign country. It filled a piece of the puzzle and it warmed my heart to meet her family and see so much love in one place. They generously took time to show me some of the other nearby islands and, even though Rosa described them many times before, I was blown away by their beauty. Amazingly, the warmth of the sun radiates not just from the sky, but from every friendly face you meet. Very few places are as friendly and welcoming as this beautiful country. #Philippines #adventure #explore #worldnomad #naturalhair #iphonex

She even got to meet their children and grandchildren

They even taught her how they harvest mushrooms in the Philippines

A random conversation about what professions Rosa’s and Lumi’s family members have led me to realize I don’t know much about mushrooms. But I wanted to learn! I asked more and more questions until they invited me to visit the mushroom farm! Seeing how they grow and harvesting them was a wonderful experience, and it reminded me that we should hold on to our childlike curiosity. With all the bad things that happen in the world, it is so easy to become jaded, unimpressed, and detached. Not caring is easier than getting hurt. But being curious and engaged is much more fulfilling, it gives us the opportunity to explore places and things we had never thought of before. Her relationship with them is truly adorable

“Words can’t express how much you both mean to me and I’ll forever fall short in being able thank you enough for taking care of us all. Love you my Lola’s.”

At the end of our trip, we explored downtown Manila. Rosa and Lumi were both born and raised in the Philippines, but they’d never been there before. It was really cool to explore the city with them, because it was new for all of us. I laughed when I watched this clip because of Rosa’s older sister Nita’s mixup at the end of the clip and how Rosa always got grumpy and frowned when the camera was on! It shows how giving she is because she’d put up with something she didn’t like because I asked her to be in my videos. Love is beautiful. It reaches across oceans and time to connect us, whether related or not, until we leave pieces of our hearts scattered across the world. Words can’t express how much you both mean to me and I’ll forever fall short in being able thank you enough for taking care of us all. Love you my Lola’s. #Philippines #adventure #explore #worldnomad #naturalhair #iphonex
