After a horrific car crash that took place, Saudi Twitter blew up with people expressing their anger due to a graphic video shared of the accident online. A man in the Kingdom is now on trial over a hashtag launched with a video of the victims in a bloody scene. 

7 young Saudis were involved as passengers in the accident that occured in Alqat Al- Suqoor 

According to a report by Arab News, seven young passengers were on the road to Madinah then were hit by another car that belonged to an Indian expat. Four people died, including the Indian expat; the three injured were sent to the Qassim hospitals, as reported by Sabq. 

A punishment may be enforced on whoever filmed it 

The person who filmed and shared the accident is subject to a punishment of five years in prison and a fine of up to SAR 3 million. If family members of victims or anyone related to the accident file a lawsuit against him, Public prosecution can call him, investigate and will refer him to trial. 

People are used to taking photos and videos of anything unusual or doesn’t always happen, such as a fancy meal, their nice outfits or any incident that may not happen on a daily basis, and car accidents are an example of unusual incidents. The other reason is that there is a growing obsession for getting an exclusive feature, so they go viral on social media. Social media has made every single individual a potential journalist.
