And here I thought I’d continue seeing memes of food and Monday morning blues for a hashtag but no- I learned something new instead.
Up until Sunday, I (like a lot of others) thought that Saudis wearing different-hued bishts was more a fashion statement or a take on the classic bisht with an added flair.
But boy, was I wrong
And the question was as follows…
Hey guys very important question does the color of a man’s bisht signify anything or is it just fashion fun?
— Vivian Nereim (@viviannereim) December 9, 2018
Bloomberg reporter Vivian Nereim took to Twitter on Sunday to ask about why some men wear coloured bishts, elucidating if it were a signification of something or merely a fashion statement.
Tweeted like a true journalist, her question led to a series of exciting discoveries based on her followers’ response…
It signifies what day of the week it is.

He’s completely serious by the way.

Twitter user @tmafaisal further legitimised his answer to Nereim’s question by saying that the rules of wearing a different colored bisht for every day of the week was officiated during the late King Faisal’s time.
This was made official during King Faisal’s time.
