Camel beauty pageants are huge in Saudi with one such camel beauty pageant having a prize money that is higher than the Miss World beauty pageant.

To make their camels win the beauty contest some camel breeders have resorted to using botox to make their camels look better. To curb that the government has introduced a fine so huge that these camel breeders will not even in their wildest dreams use botox on their camels from now on.

According to Al Arabiya English, camel breeders who use botox on their camels will now be charged up to a whopping $109,000.

This year’s King Abdulaziz Camel Festival in Rumah saw some camels being disqualified from the competition as their breeders had used botox on them.

The total prize money in the year’s festival was around $57 million.

“When it comes to rare beauty, not everyone will have the financial means to participate in the auction and compete. People pay large sums of money up to 6-7 million, and more without exaggeration. However, it all depends on the rare beauty. The rarer, the more expensive,” said Fawzan Al-Madi, head of the panel of judges at the festival.

He adds “The camel is considered an old symbol of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is a source of pride for the sons of the peninsula. In the past, it represented food, clothing and transportation. It represented everything.”
