Everyone’s always hyped for the annual Janadriyah Festival that outshines any other events that take place in the Kingdom. This year, in particular, Janadriyah has more than a few plans to celebrate Saudi Arabia’s culture and traditions from the past and present. 

The upcoming events of this highly-anticipated, 18-day festival includes activities and performances that all members of the family will enjoy.

The first day of the festival will be inaugurated by King Salman 

According to Arab News, Custodian of The Two Holy Mosques King Salman will be start the festival off with a bang by inaugurating it this Wednesday.

India’s minister of external affairs, Sushma Swaraj, will be attending the opening ceremony 

On behalf of India being a guest of honor during the entire festival. She will arrive on Tuesday.

A mega camel race will take place on the first day of the festival 

Prince Khalid announced to media that 600 camels of different breeds and genres will take part in the race.

Well-known singers from the Gulf will be in attendance too

Rashid Al-Majid, Rabih Saqr, Majid Al-Muhandis, Rashid Al-Faris and Mohammed Abdu will present an operetta called “Imams and Kings”, that is produced by Rotana and written by Prince Badr bin Abdulmohsen. 

An app was created for the Janadriyah festival that will be useful for visitors 

The JanadriyahApp will help visitors find the gates, areas where crowds are at a high or low, or even help them track where their cars are parked. 

Hello convenience. The festival is definitely taking things to the next level this year. 

Approximately 2000 exhibitors have been confirmed 

This means more options for food and drink stalls, souvenir kiosks and many more.

A variety of cultural shows will take place

And they’ll be set up all over the venue, for different crowds and performances.

The festival will run from Feb 7 to Feb 24, with the first five days reserved for men only; and women/families can join in from Feb 12 until the last day. 

It is free entry for all and is open everyday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
