The heavy downpour has resulted in flooding in certain areas of the Western region, mainly in Jeddah. Three people have died on Tuesday as a result of electrocution from the flooding in Jeddah and in the Makkah region, as reported by Saudi Gazette.

One died of electrocution in Jeddah and the others in the Makkah region

Jeddah Health Affairs reportedly received two main distress calls on Tuesday, one being cases of electrocution and others were traffic accidents.

The downpours in Jeddah on Tuesday lasted two hours, and caused immense traffic due to vehicles stuck in floods.

This reminded a lot of people of the heavy floods that killed so many back in 2009

Almost 30 emergency reports were made all throughout yesterday, as The Civil Defense received more than 200 reports on short circuits.

People were stranded in other areas of the country affected by bad weather

More than 480 people were left stranded and later rescued in Makkah, Madinah, Al-Jouf and Tabuk. There were many cases of people falling and slipping near the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah too.

Nevertheless, municipalities in said regions positioned teams to help people out.

More rainfall is expected in the next few days

General Authority of Meteorology & Environmental Protection announced on Tuesday that areas such as Jeddah, Makkah, and Taif will be expecting more rainfall.

Civil Defense has alerted the weather turbulence from Monday to Thursday

It is advised during areas affected with flood for people to remain indoors and stay safe.
