Good News For Expats As Profession Change On Iqamas Is Set To Resume Soon

Avatar

For some months now profession change on iqamas (resident permits) has been blocked by the Saudi authorities. Many expats were not able to change jobs as their profession limited them to the one they were currently working on.

However, as per a recent report by Madhyamam News, things are set to change soon as they mention that the provision for changing expatriates’ profession is resuming.

The service is said to return from the 1st of Muharram, which corresponds to the 12th of September.

The provision is likely to open many new job vacancies for expats.

Private sector companies have been able to apply for changes of profession since Sunday. All applications are to be submitted via the online portal of Social Development.

Once the application is submitted, it will then have to be approved by the authorities who will do so on the basis of their professional criteria.

For medical health professionals, engineers and accountants applicants are expected to produce documents related to their practical experience as well.
