Be it effects of global warming or not, Saudi Arabia has seen a steady increase in snowfall. And now, during peak summer when most Saudi cities are seeing the mercury hover close to the 50 °C mark, a Saudi city is carpeted with a layer of snow.

It is not only the summer season which makes this snowfall special but it is the place where it happened. Normally, in Saudi Arabia when it would snow it would be up in the north, this time around however it snowed in the south.

Videos have been doing rounds on social media showing snow falling near the city of Abha.

The video of the incident is being shared widely all over social media with many netizens making it a point to visit Abha during Eid Holidays.

Earlier this week the Holy City of Makkah and its surroundings also witnessed sandstorms followed by severe rain.
