It’s Now Easier For Expats To Shift Jobs As One-Year Transfer Ban Is Lifted

Avatar

Thanks to a new amendment in the labor law an expat can now transfer to another employer without having to wait at least one year after his arrival in the kingdom.

According to the Saudi Gazette, the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development Ahmed Al Rajhi has approved an amendment to the labor law to that effect.

There are, however, certain conditions that must be met for the transfer.

According to the amended regulations, the current employer’s consent is required for the transfer, which must not violate the conditions outlined in the Nitaqat Saudization program for the private sector.

The news report also mentions two other amendments that were approved by the minister.

It includes one that states that a worker can transfer to another employer at the end of his/her contract without the existing employer’s consent.
